California Recreational Trails Funding Program - Free Workshops in April & May

Attention trail planners, builders and supporters. Do you need funding for your recreational trail but aren't sure where to begin? California State Parks is offering a series of free technical assistance workshops throughout California in April and early May to help you prepare your funding application, as the guidelines were recently revised.  The Recreational Trails program is funded through Congress as part of the federal transportation bill, SAFETEA-LU, which funds the development and maintenance of trails for recreational purposes; this includes pedestrian, equestrian, bicycling and non-motorized snow activities as well as off-road motorized vehicle activities. Last year about $5.5 million was allocated for the program. The deadline for applications this year is October 1.
